SafeExit for OneDrive

Efficient Lab ('we', 'us', or 'our') is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy applies to the SafeExit for OneDrive desktop application for Windows, a local-first tool that helps you leave personal OneDrive without losing files.

Effective Date: September 20, 2026

Local-First by Design

  • SafeExit for OneDrive runs entirely on your Windows PC. Scanning, file auditing, copying, integrity verification, folder restoration, and report generation all happen locally on your device.
  • The app requires no account and no Microsoft sign-in. We operate no backend servers for this product, and there is nothing for your data to be uploaded to.

What the App Processes on Your Device

  • To do its job, the app reads file system metadata on your device — file names, paths, sizes, timestamps, and OneDrive sync status (for example whether a file is a cloud-only placeholder). This information is processed locally and never sent to us.
  • The app stores a task journal and settings on your device (a local database in your user profile) so that runs can be paused and resumed. You may delete this data at any time by uninstalling the app and removing its data folder.
  • File contents are read only when needed to download, copy, or verify the files you chose — within your own drives. They are never transmitted elsewhere.

What We Do Not Collect

  • No personal information: no name, email address, Microsoft account, device identifier, or advertising ID is collected.
  • No telemetry or analytics: the app contains no usage tracking, no analytics SDK, and no crash reporting that sends data to us. Diagnostic logging stays on your device.
  • No file content, file names, or folder paths ever leave your device. We could not see your files even if we wanted to.

Purchases via Microsoft Store

  • The optional one-time unlock is purchased through Microsoft Store. The transaction is processed entirely by Microsoft under its own privacy policy.
  • We never see, collect, or store your payment details — no credit card numbers, billing address, or Microsoft account credentials. The app only receives a license status from the store.

Network Use

  • The app itself makes no network connections for our own purposes. When it downloads your cloud-only files, that traffic is handled by your OneDrive client and Windows as part of normal synchronization — between your PC and Microsoft, never through us.
  • The only direct network calls the app makes go to Microsoft Store services to check or restore your purchase license, and to open external links (such as this policy) in your default browser at your request.

Diagnostics and Support

  • The app writes local diagnostic logs on your device (for example operation results and error codes). These logs may contain file paths from your own folders, and they never leave your device automatically.
  • If you contact support, you may choose to share an exported exit report or log excerpts yourself. That sharing is entirely under your control and optional.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

  • We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. The app's local-first design means future versions are expected to remain free of data collection; any change that would alter that would be stated clearly here first.
